What is HangUpNDrive.org?
We are a grassroots organization designed to promote legislation restricting handheld cell phone use by drivers.
Why are we here?
The instance of cell phone related accidents continues to rise in the United States. In addition to that, it is also clear that road rage incidents are on the rise, and these are often related to drivers talking on handheld cell phones.
Don't most states already have restrictions on cell phone use?
Surprisingly, most states do not have these restrictions. Only eleven states have full bans on drivers using handheld cell phones. Five states have partial or limited bans, and the rest have no bans at all. The confusion comes in because all but nine states have some sort of ban on drivers texting while driving.
What can I do?
The biggest thing each individual can do is to stop using handheld cell phones while driving. Using hands free devices is fine, but let's keep the handheld phones away from our ears. The next thing you can do is get informed about your state's laws and write to your representatives in support of full bans. If you want to be even more involved, go to our
